Blue Tailoring is the story of an “ideal collection,” created not for sale but to become a creative laboratory and the expression of a personal poetic vision. It is a project that international designer Stefano Chiassai created with Berto fabrics: the goal was to explore the new potential of the quintessential “blue fabric,” denim, when applied to men’s tailoring.
Blue Tailoring materialized into a volume, a book, in which denim becomes a space for cross-contamination. With the collaboration of over 30 Italian Made in Italy companies, Stefano Chiassai developed his research by mixing materials, enriching them with unusual techniques combining craftsmanship and new technologies. It also tells the stories and complex relationships between the idea, the production districts, and the network of people that make the dream of fashion possible.
The volume is divided into 10 chapters in which the designer explores different design methodologies, material combinations, and investigates new concepts of forms. It reveals what is usually hidden, extends and transforms proportions, combines patterns, decorations, and materials, and shows readers how to build a highly personal design vocabulary.
