While denim establishes itself as one of the most beloved fabrics worldwide, its evolution continues even in wool-blend versions, and it is precisely this unprecedented collaboration that reaches a new milestone: a fabric with a high percentage of wool (65%) completely indigo-dyed.
The new fabric takes shape in the “3×8” collection, a name that describes three moments of the day for which the clothes are designed:
- Urban: its “utility” style is dedicated to the most active hours of the day and is perfect for consumers who prefer bicycles as a means of transport.
- Lounge: semi-lined suit, composed of an unstructured jacket and leisure trousers, designed for the hours between afternoon and evening.
- Il fumo: when streetwear meets tuxedo, a suit designed for a special occasion is born, but maintains an ideal fit for those who don’t like the rigidity of the classic smoking jacket.
“Merino Wool is traditionally used in very formal garments” – explains Stuart McCullough, managing director of Woolmark Company – “To allow this yarn to regain some market share, we have started working together with manufacturing companies to create new consumption styles, more casual and suitable for everyday life. Joining forces with Berto Industria Tessile and The Makers was also a way to reinterpret the concept of the conventional suit and to highlight the versatility of Merino Wool, without forgetting its completely natural essence.
The chosen fabric belongs to the Blue Selvedge line, a collection by Manifattura 1887 made entirely with Picanol mechanical shuttle looms from the 1950s, restored and refurbished by master craftsmen who passionately pass down traditional processing techniques to new generations.
