BERTO FOR NN STREETWEAR

Do you remember the exact moment you decided to become a fashion designer?
We don’t believe we have become fashion designers, or at least we don’t define ourselves as such. We started our adventure spending our evenings in front of pizza and gaming console, we’re the typical couch and beer kind of guys. Then when we realized we had what it takes to get serious, we simply started playing the game.

Our ideas usually come from the Land of the Rising Sun and the USA; we always try to immerse ourselves in the vintage American motorcycle world while simultaneously exploring Japanese streetwear.

What was your first project?
We named our first project “THE ROAD” jumpsuit. We wanted to revisit a classic work jumpsuit with a modern twist, so we completely reconstructed the fit while preserving the essence of the full coverall – rugged, masculine, raw.

The creative process: do you work instinctively or plan every single step? Where do your ideas come from?
Being two minds, we can say that we have many influences and different passions, so we discuss and compare them to then extract something that always sets us apart from the crowd, very often combining our points of view. We certainly keep up with the latest news regarding fashion, skateboarding, and tattoo culture. Our ideas usually come from the Land of the Rising Sun and the USA; we always try to immerse ourselves in the vintage American motorcycle world while simultaneously exploring Japanese streetwear.

How did you get in touch with Berto?
Actually, our producer simply told us about it, so it was just basic word of mouth. Then we researched the company further, discovered “Berto4YoungTalents,” and here we are.

Which Berto fabrics did you work with for your project and collections?
We used:
NEVADA BLU DRY EL 11
NEVADA COLOR DRY EL 11 Z099
NEVADA COLOR DRY EL 11 Z087
NEVADA PXT EL 10.5

“Less but better” can be interpreted as an endorsement of a certain degree of purity in design and fashion design. It can also be understood as an environmental message about reduction and sustainability. What are your thoughts?
Sustainability is fundamental nowadays, and in our own small way, we have tried to work exclusively with “made in Italy” products at a price that is as accessible as possible to everyone. Our philosophy is precisely to create top-quality products at fair prices.

Is there something you’ve never done that you’d like to achieve?
Definitely opening stores in Tokyo and New York.
