What was your first project?<\/strong>
\nOur first project started with the idea of producing a new yoga mat bag. Since we couldn\u2019t find anything on the market that suited our needs, we felt it was time to design something new and fresh ourselves. The core idea behind our label Dzaino is to work with used jeans, deconstruct them, and create new products from these materials. We believe that the current upcycling aesthetic needs a fresh, modern design. That\u2019s why we designed upcycling bags\u2014creative reuse\u2014that don\u2019t look like typical upcycled products. Now we would like to expand our possibilities and use Berto\u2019s fabrics for these projects. <\/p>\n

The creative process: do you work instinctively or plan every single step? Where do your ideas come from?<\/strong>
\nThe process is very similar: the first step is highly instinctive. We share ideas, talk about what we see, what we experience, what we like, and what impresses us. From this, our concrete design concepts emerge. The next steps are planned in detail\u2014production, materials, etc. <\/p>\n

What did you think when Berto contacted you?<\/strong>
\nIt is very difficult to find sustainable denim fabrics with GOTS certification. We value the Berto 4 Young Talents program and think it is a great opportunity for young designers. The minimum yardage for fabrics is often too large for small design brands; Berto helps by offering a minimum order of just 1 m. We also like the idea of collaborating with an Italian company because we have always had a connection with Italy, which is also one of the reasons our brand name was developed from the Italian word zaino. <\/p>\n

Which Berto fabrics did you use for your project and collections?<\/strong>
\nWe chose:

\n– 4014 DRAKE LIME
\n– 3828 ROCK-ME AIR 12.5
\n– 3828 ROCK-ME AIR in BLACK<\/p>\n

In your view, what is the most significant part of Berto for Talents? What goals were you able to achieve thanks to this program? <\/strong>
\nWe are still at the beginning of our first Berto product. The first item will be an apron, which is exciting for us because it will be our first garment. At the same time, we intend to use Berto fabrics for our Dzaino bags. <\/p>\n

“Less but better” can be interpreted as an endorsement of a certain degree of purity in design and fashion design. It can also be understood as an environmental message about reduction and sustainability. What do you think about it?<\/strong>
\nOur brand values are based on these themes. On the one hand, we are designers who believe in a minimalist, clear aesthetic without ornamentation; on the other, we think the fashion industry must become more sustainable. Because there is no Planet B. <\/p>\n

Is there something you’ve never done that you’d like to achieve?<\/strong>
\nOur goal is to develop our label into a brand that champions sustainability. We take part in the Fashion Revolution campaign and believe it is important to reach more people and share the message that fashion and design must be produced sustainably. We would also be very interested in delving into the entire supply chain. We would love to learn more about how GOTS-certified cotton is cultivated and then transformed into yarns and fabrics at Berto.
